Zaragoza had all the chances to walk away with a positive result away to Reus Deportiu but the team took just a point in a 1:1 draw. They actually took the lead first, back in 21st minute thanks to a goal from Toquero.
First halftime was very interesting with both teams aiming for attacking phases with the visitors deserving their lead since they were more concrete despite ball possession from the home team. Second halftime was much slower with not so many offensive attempts.
Overall, it should be said that Deportius deserved their equalizer that came via Lekic in 47th minute with no team willing to risk a lot towards the end. Zaragoza now stands at sixth position and are three points above seventh and out of play-off placed Oviedo being in a position to still seek points since there's five more rounds to be played.
Hosts will miss central defender Simone Grippo (23/3) and offensive midfielder Oliver Buff (22/2).
Gijon, on the other hand, comes from a 2:1 victory taken in front of own fans against Albacete last weekend. They were set as a strong favorite and actually it was expected fro them to get the victory in much more easier way.
First halftime was quite an open one with teams searching for a goal while Gijon had more possession and took the lead via Jony in 31st minute. Guests replied from the penalty kick in 44th minute taken by Rodriguez.
Players of Gijon did look more dominating on the field in second, while Albacete threatened more via counter attack. This time hosts were bit lucky to seal the victory Carmona in 87th minute in a game that could have easily ended differently. Gijon is now at second position having two points less than leaders from Vallecano and are with same points as third placed Huesca.
Central defender Juan Quintero (5/0) and striker Michael Santos (31/16) are surely out for this one due injuries.
- Gijon are undefeated in their last 12 matches.
This comes as a very important game for both teams since Zaragoza needs to keep their play-off position, while Gijon aims for direct promotion and can't afford to drop points if their chances are to stay high. Both of the teams are working very well in attack and this shouldn't be a defensive game in neither of the scenarios.
Auxerre vs AC Ajaccio
After four consecutive defeats, players of Auxerre managed to respond well in the previous Ligue 2 round when the side won over Chateauroux with a 1:2 result.
They were set as a really strong outsider and the match started in a really poor form for them since the home team took the lead in 32nd minute via Sarr. It was very open first halftime where the hosts looked better than the opponent, however the things got very different in the second halftime.
Hosts were limited to a more passive role and the visitors were the ones who used their chances better. Finally they have reverted the scoreline thanks to goals from Skahi in 47th and Barreto in last moments of the game.
Central back Mickael Tacalfred (30/3) is out injured. Midfielder Romain Philippoteaux (35/11), central back Abdoul Ba (26/1), striker Mohamed Yattara (24/10) are continuing to be sidelined injured.
AC Ajaccio, on the other side, couldn't manage to build up on their previous victory at home against Lens as the side suffered 2:0 defeat away from home against Le Havre last Friday evening.
It was a defeat against direct opponent in the play-off battle, as AC Ajaccio lost a decent chance to catch up with Nimes and are now three points behind direct promotion placed rival. However must be said that the victory of Le Havre was completely deserved. It was an open game where the hosts simply used their chances better and gained the lead via goal from Fontaine in 24th minute.
Even though the home team stood playing with a man less in 71st minute, players of AC Ajaccio didn't manage to exploit that fact - instead of it they stood playing with a man down as well in 85th minute when Lejeune got red carded.
Finally, hosts sealed the victory in 90th minute thanks to Youga. AC Ajaccio is now third with five points more than fourth placed Brest and still with some chances of reaching the second position. Auxerre is without a competitive motive standing in the middle of the table with two rounds till the end. However no doubt that they want to finish in style in front of own fans.
Midfielder Kevin Lejeune (23/1) is suspended for this one.
- Auxerre has four consecutive both to score matches & over 2.5 goals at home.
No doubt that Auxerre will want to leave good impression, while AC Ajaccio for sure wants something out of the clash as well. Hosts are doing actually decently in attack and do have potential there, while the guests anyway remain favorites. Both teams to score seems like an option that can happen already after the first halftime.
